Ever feel like you are a shoe-in and should be the star candidate for a job or internship?
You have a killer resume, you created a compelling email (see post below), your brand aligns
with theirs, you have been part of 14 clubs, your grades are above average… yet, for some
reason or another you just don’t hear back?!
I get it - believe me, I’ve been there and done that. However, here is the silver lining…
lots of people are visual learners (I know I am) another way to capture your reader's
attention is to give them a branded visual kit to learn more about you. Your visual kit is
similar (yet so different) than your resume… included are examples of my own and my
fantastic clients work! Huge shoutout to my clever, creative assistant
Marissa for her hard work on my kit. Learn more below...
They Add Value
You took that extra step. By creating a Visual Kit you are able to display your work
in a stylized format. Your Kit can serve as an extension of your resume or cover letter
and display work that needs a visual to explain. Your kit should showcase your past work,
creative ideas and transferable skills you can bring to a future employer. You add extreme
value to your inquiry because you took the time to market yourself above and beyond the norm.
They Are Image focused
Snap those pics. Did you organize a fantastic event or complete a stunning project?
Make sure you show-off one or two selected images from the event/project and back
it up with some actionable phrases that you completed. The visual aesthetic of the kit
should align with your personal brand - pick a color scheme and stick to it!
They Are Simple & To The Point
This visual kit is not meant to show off 1,000 projects you have completed. No way!
It is here to serve as a tool to market yourself and highlight the transferable skills you can
bring to the team. ALWAYS - include your contact information, save it as a PDF and only
show off work that you are completely proud of.
