How to Be a Successful Entrepreneur According to Tory Burch
In 2004, Tory Burch launched her own fashion after years of working in fashion PR and journalism. Since then, she has created a fashion empire that millions of women obsess over everyday. In addition to her fashion career, Burch created The Tory Burch Foundation to inspire and help women who have desires to become entrepreneurs with the help of education, student loans, and mentorships. Her love for helping others is what makes her so admirable for inspiring entrepreneurs. The Brand Girls love the fact that so many young women look to Burch for advice. Here are some of our favorite pieces of advice how to be successful in business according to Tory Burch!
The most desirable qualities for female entrepreneurs:
“You have to have a unique idea that meets a need, an idea that you really believe in. Launching a business is a tremendous amount of work—much more than I ever imagined when I was starting out—so you have to be truly passionate about what you’re doing. I always tell our entrepreneurs to embrace ambition—think big. Optimism is a job requirement.”
How to handle criticism:
"One of the best pieces of advice I ever received from my parents is to think of negativity as noise. Believe in yourself and what you're doing. Remember: If the most unique ideas were obvious to everyone, there wouldn't be entrepreneurs. The one thing that every entrepreneurial journey has in common is that there are many, many steps on the road to success."
The power of being an entrepreneur:
“Being an entrepreneur isn’t just a job title, and it isn’t just about starting a company. It’s a state of mind. It’s about seeing connections others can’t, seizing opportunities others won’t, and forging new directions that others haven’t.”
It won’t be easy:
“Buckle up, and know it is going to be a tremendous amount of work, but embrace it.”
