DEAR BG

"I have an interview using the software HireVue coming up, do you have any experience with it before and have any tips?"

"From my experience, I would say it’s a little awkward because you see yourself recording your answers (similar to Photo Booth) but once you get used to it, it’s no big deal! I would definitely keep the interview on half of your computer screen and type up some talking points, memorable experiences, skills, info about the company, etc.

On the other half so you can easily reference it during the interview if you don’t know how to answer a question off the top of your head! There also will probably be a time limit to prep your answer, but don’t worry- it’s more time than you think. Use that time to not only prep your talking points for that question, but take a few deep breaths and regain your confidence each time you answer a new question!

Doing so really helped me refresh, remember why I wanted the position I was applying for so bad and how significant it is to be interviewing with that company! Kill it girl! You’ll do great!" - EXPERIENCED BG CLIENT

"I am currently applying for summer research. The deadline is coming up and one of my references still hasn't uploaded her letter yet and I was wondering how I could send her a reminder just to make sure she hasn't forgotten - because I asked her a couple weeks ago. I obviously don't want to sound rude but I need her to remember to turn it in, what is the best way to approach this?"

"Send a nice note following up and letting her know the deadline is approaching! She will appreciate the reminder. Also, make sure you say something along the lines “I know you are very busy”. This shows you acknowledge they have a lot on their plate!" - EXPERIENCED BG CLIENT

"I found a company that I would LOVE to intern with! I did some research and they have an amazing internship program and I am thinking about applying for the position. The only problem is, the program goes from June 1st to August 31st and I go back to school in the middle of August. Should I still apply?"

"Great question! You should definitely still apply. I would wait to tell the company about your time issue until you may be hired. You may be able to work something out where you start the internship early so you get the full experience!" - EXPERIENCED BG CLIENT
