Meghan Valeriani - CoveteurMeghan Valeriani, a recent graduate of James Madison University majored in hospitality management with a concentration in human resource development - not to forget her minor in business! Valeriani currently interns with Coveteur as a marketing and sales representative. Within this position she assists the campaign manager including location scouting, selecting props, while getting hands on within the sponsored shoots! Alongside this Valeriani works with the media planner taking screenshots and creating wrap reports. Among the many responsibilities integrated into this internship, Valeriani rocks it while completing the tracking expenses, creating influencer decks for the sold campaigns and assists with potential talent outreach. “I have learned SO MUCH to say the least!!” Says Valeriani. When asking Valeriani how this internship influenced her she mentioned, “The internship at Coveteur has taught me a lot about myself and what I am passionate towards. I never saw myself doing anything in media and now I cannot imagine NOT doing media. Concetta Ciarlo - Glossier & Michael KorsConcetta Angelina Ciarlo is making big waves within the fashion industry at the platinum age of 20. Ciarlo has received her AAS in fashion design, including a secondary AAS in AMC from FIT. Now working towards her bachelors degree, this fashionista takes on the study of advertising and marketing communications. Just this past spring of 2017, Ciarlo interned for the IMC/PR department at Glossier - a real dream come true for her! the Glossier internship was a truly competitive opportunity to be chosen for, but through her confidence and determination Ciarlo was able to land the internship after reaching out + connecting with the head of communications at Glossier! “This was my first informational interview, and I was inspired after learning more about her story. Sure enough, this lead to my wonderful internship!” Says Ciarlo. Ciarlo states, “At Glossier, I learned the inner workings of my favorite beauty brand. I did products seeding, worked on product launches, and helped to source potential brand representatives.” Growing even further within the fashion industry, Ciarlo received the opportunity to study abroad in London this summer while taking on yet another fabulous internship - Michael Kors! It was here that she interned at the London Michael Kors HQ in the PR department. When asked about her experience within this internship, Ciarlo said, “At Michael Kors I gained international experience, and covered all of the various European markets. I specifically worked on market research, competitor brand analysis, and press coverage. I also had the opportunity to help style for the upcoming Tatler x Michael Kors event!” It was through The Brand Girls that Ciarlo was able to learn the powerful techniques of connecting + building a brand for yourself that is wildly recognized. Madison Square Garden! Diaz sculpts her degree as a sport and events management major, including a sales minor. Aside from her rockin opportunity this summer, she also interned with the Greensboro Swarm, an NBA G-League affiliate of the Charlotte Hornets just this spring of 2017. Within the internship at MSG, Diaz powers through her role as an associate on the integrated media planning team. Some of the roles associated with her internship derive from prospecting promotional partners based on brand goals and audience demographics, as well as conducting outreach to external partners to secure promotional and/or trade support. Diaz also assists in the development and support of class integrated media plans across paid, earned, owned, and shared connection points for all MSG brands - including Radio City Christmas Spectacular and other holiday productions, Rockettes New York Spectacular, Bookings, New York Rangers, New York Knicks, New York Liberty, Westchester Knicks, and any other sports or entertainment marketing priority. “At my internship, I have learned the most from other people through informal coffee meetings and MSG Office Hours. I remember that the Senior Vice President of the Knicks shared a piece of advice with all student associates "The off-court culture impacts the on-court culture." While this is a basketball reference, it also translates to any environment that requires collaboration with others.” Says Diaz. When asked where she articulated some of her internship success she stated that “BG helped me learn how to confidently articulate my experiences and skills during the application and interview process” - Something empirical when standing out among a competitive crowd. This just goes to show that variety can give you power. It is safe to say that one of Diaz’s strengths is her ability to cultivate a rhythm form her experiences and use them in her present prospects. As of June 7th, 2017, Michaela will begin her professional internship with Disney’s Fairy Tale Weddings! Prior to securing her dream internship, Michaela executed her interview skills in a highly competitive interview process. “I was told by recruiters that my resume, cover letter, and conversational interview skills made me strong candidate for the position.” Says Michaela. Michaela thanks the Brand Girls to her heightened confidence and success while obtaining this internship. “Using my skills I learned through working with The Brand Girls I was able to stand out among hundreds of applicants and secure one of just two available positions as a Disney’s Fairy Tale Weddings Sales Professional Intern. I was told by recruiters that my resume, cover letter, and conversational interview skills made me strong candidate for the position.” Some of Michaela’s responsibilities include securing and following up on sales, developing event concepts, working with operational areas including floral, catering, and audio/visual, and working directly with guests. Vellucci studies strategic communication, while tightening a focus in marketing. Thus, when Vellucci heard the mission statements encompassed within The Brand Girls seminar, she knew to grasp at this opportunity. Vellucci thrived within the support from not only Rachael Bozsik, but her peers and close friends whom were also members of BG. She soon began her mentor sessions, and started defining her brand. “I am most amazed with the process of branding one’s self. This is such a strategic method for everyone. I found out more about myself personally and about my career path.” Says Vellucci. Throughout her journey, Bellucci was able to construct and refine all of the elements surrounding her career ambitions. Through guidance from Bozsik and her hand selected mentor from Team BG, she was able to authentically draft a personalized map of success. Bellucci states, “I tailored my pitch, resume and emails to professionals to benefit my future goals and aspirations. I feel more confident in business professional settings which has carried of to how I carry myself in my day to day life.” Once concluding her sessions, Bellucci was inspired by the personal change and focus that had enveloped through this organization. She knew she wanted to grasp even further towards more community involvement and benefits to the BG community. It was at this time that she became involved in the BG Focus Group. Bellucci soon implemented BG C.R.E.W, an opportunity for girls within the BG community to bond, inspire and exchange contacts between a tailored group of women whom share the same goals. “This gives girls a close circle of girls to network with and become great friends! Girls can bond over future jobs for their major, dream job locations and a general support system.” Says Bellucci. Brenna came to us knowing a few things: that she loved working in a stylish space, adored LA and wanted to participate in some aspect of lifestyle marketing. Through guided discussions and activities - Brenna had a major “a-ha” moment. Together we discovered that her core and true passion was to create upscale, stylish and memorable experiences for consumers through experiential marketing. Then… the hunt for the perfect company was on - we taught Brenna how to network with contacts at these companies through brilliant informational interviews. In addition, Brenna has created a side business where she helps stylish girls like herself to create fashionable blogs, resumes and logos. American Eagle is the perfect fit for Danni. They have a youthful, sunny and upbeat spin to their product and brand. Danni has been spending her days collaborating with team members, offering input on upcoming campaigns and assisting in overseeing brand strategies. We loved working with Danni teaching her how to use her personality to sell herself as an ideal candidate. We are beaming to share that she will be interning on the Marketing Team with In the Pink the Lilly Pulitzer signature brick and mortars of Cape Cod, Boston, The Hamptons, Marthas Vineyard etc. Abigial has a desire to create unique brand experiences for consumers. She will be working directly with the Lilly Pulitzer marketing coordinator to create innovative social media campaigns, assist in photo-shoot styling and organizing city-wide sales. We are so proud of her accomplishments to date and can not wait to see what the summer has in store for her.
