Kelsey Velucci- Condé Nast

Kelsey Velucci is a 21-year-old Communications major with a Marketing minor.

This summer, Kelsey worked a job for a term with Condé Nast, an American mass media company. In this position, Kelsey assisted the company by emailing, scheduling, planning events, and collaborating with others on her team.

    “The Brand Girls helped me better identify myself in a professional environment.   I started the program saying how I was a Communications Major with no direction of interest, but now I know my areas of interest and where I want to explore in my future job searches.  I know how to pitch whether it is from my resume, to a meet up for coffee, or a formal interview. I enjoyed learning great ways to network through the program and how to use what makes YOU unique and bringing that to the forefront of the conversation to stand out. ”

Deirdre Fairly-Tory Burch

Deirdre Fairly is a 21-year-old Marketing major at Elon University.

This summer, Deirdre is worked with the fashion brand Tory Burch as a brand marketing intern.  In this position, Deirdre learned about fashion marketing while organizing still life and on figure photo shoots as well as conducting marketing research.

    “The Brand Girls helped me figure out what career path I wanted to take back when I was a sophomore and was pretty clueless about what I wanted to do and how I could get there. The program helped me feel comfortable about my resume and cover letter and helped me get over my fear of interviews. I don't think I would've been able to have this amazing opportunity without the help of BG!”

Barrett Janney- ISO New England

Barrette Janney, a 20-year-old junior, is a Communication and English major with a minor in Marketing at Boston College.

This past summer, Barrette is interned with ISO New England, a company that operates New England’s power grid. In this position, Barrette was responsible for writing press releases/articles, promoting the company’s new mobile app, and video ideation and creation.

    “ My training with BG constantly reminds me to step out of my comfort zone and set my sights on opportunities that will challenge me. ISO New England operates New England's power grid, a mission that seemed relevant to STEM girls and maybe not to me. However, harnessing the #girlboss power I gained from BG, I realized that working in Corporate Communications for this company would put my writing skills to the test and challenge me to communicate to the general public the complex story of a corporation so essential to their daily lives. I credit BG with pushing me to seek out unique opportunities like this.”

Bethany Reeves-Woz U

Bethany Reeves is a 21-year-old Electronic Media Entrepreneurship and Graphic Design major who has an amazing summer internship!

This summer, Bethany was a Graphic Design Intern and Executive Assistant at Woz U, the tech education platform launched by Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak. In this position, Bethany was responsible for creating graphics and videos for print and the company’s website. In addition to that, she assisted with high-profile visitors such as Steve Wozniak and Pitbull.

    “ Before BG, I didn’t even know what networking meant. The Brand Girls worked with me A LOT when it came to building up my confidence to make cold calls and send out emails to contacts. BG helped me gain confidence in myself, which allowed me to focus on the person I was speaking to, rather than feeling self-conscious about my abilities during our conversations. Networking is how I landed this position at Woz U and I couldn’t be more grateful for BG for helping get me here.”

Peyton Brooks-SEC Network

Peyton Brooks, a 20-year-old rising senior, is studying Communications at Furman University.

This summer, Peyton is interning with The SEC Network, a branch of ESPN. In this position, Peyton is getting hands on experience with digital editing, marketing and content strategy, and film shoot setup and equipment.

    “I went from a girl afraid of rejection to a woman who makes her own path. The Brand Girls didn’t just tell me what I could learn - they saw my strengths, identified my insecurities and what I wanted to further develop, and built upon the foundation I already had within me. My coaches had genuine passion and faith in me and took time to personalize a program that worked for me - and me only- which supported my growth. The Brand Girls taught me about confidence, girl power, and instilled that “go-getter” attitude I already had, but was too nervous to use.”

Toni Julianelle-Neville Wisdom

Kailee Morris -Opry Entertainment Group

Kailee Morris a 22-year-old recent graduate of Middle Tennessee State University where she studied Video & Film Production.

Just recently, Kailee accepted a job as a Digital Content Coordinator with Opry Entertainment Group in Nashville after interning for the company last year. In this position, Kailee is responsible for managing Opry’s Youtube channel, growing the channel’s audience through brand awareness and creating  original video content.

I have always wanted to start my career in Nashville, so when an internship opportunity came up for Opry Entertainment Group, I was thrilled! Allyson Rychlak- James A. Michener Art Museum

Allyson Rychlak, a 19-year-old college student, is studying Business Management with a double minor in Writing and Finance at Providence College.

This summer, Allyson is interning with the James A. Michener Art Museum as an Art Education intern. In this position, Allyson is leading a summer program with over 700 children. In addition to that, she is helping plan and organize future programs while bringing new ideas to different aspects of the museum.

Megan Buczynski  - Furnitureland South


BG client Megan Buczynski is a recent college graduate with a Bachelor's of Science degree in Interior Design.

Megan accepted a full-time position at Furnitureland South as a Design Consultant after interning for the company while she was still in school last fall. In this position, she works one-on-one with clients to create their dream home.

Ellie Stein- Green Philly

Ellie Stein a 20-year-old is Economics major with a minor in Environmental Science at Virginia Tech.

This summer, Ellie is interning with Green Philly, a company focused on sustainability in Philadelphia. Here she will head the marketing department where she will organize and plan the Sustain PHL Awards and serve as a voting member of the Sustian PHL voting committee.

    “Growing up, I always dreamed of working in the big city for a company that made a difference in the world. Once I got to college, I realized it was time to start making that dream a reality. Kristin Joostema, a 19-year-old biology major is tightening her focus within the field of neuroscience at the University of Richmond.

With a major such as this, it’s all about EXPERIENCE, EXPERIENCE, EXPERIENCE. We’re talking hands on engagement between Joostema and the health field. To enrich her confidence and presence in this career, Joostema worked diligently to achieve and succeed in her most recent internship at The Goodwin House as a CNA (Certified Nurse’s Assistant)
“I have learned how to give the best restorative care to patients.” Says Joostema.
“My responsibilities include any activity of daily living - these include bathing, grooming, dressing, feeding, transferring from bed to wheelchair safety, and promoting the residents dignity and happiness. I have learned how to communicate with the residents and truly learn from their vast life experiences. I also learned the administrative side of the administrative part of the job by logging all the care I perform in the patient's file. Finally, I learned how to effectively work with my coworkers to give care for all our patients in an effective and efficient way and transition from shift to shift or provider to provider smoothly.”

For Joostema, creating confidence in herself became a creation of confidence within her patients. I think we can all recognize in some sense just how important the role of a nurse can be! When asking Joostema how The Brand Girls helped her lock down this internship, she mentioned…

“Rachael Bozsik, CEO of The Brand Girls, motivated me to go after what I wanted in life, which is ultimately to be a Physician's Assistant, and take tangible steps towards that goal. This motivated me to apply for the Red Cross program and becoming a CNA to gain clinical experience and make myself a qualified candidate for graduate programs. After BG, I find myself walking into a room with my head held high and a bounce in my step, ready to take on any challenge- something that I definitely would not be able to do without BG.”

Katie Richardson - St. Jude's
Katie Richardson, a 21-year-old senior at Virginia Tech is wrapping up her academic career in marketing - including a minor in Spanish. 

Implementing all of her well-earned knowledge, Richardson is interning at at St. Jude's Children’s Hospital with ALSAC (American Lebanese Syrian Associated Charities), an organization responsible for fundraising and creating awareness for the hospital.

Richardson mentions that her internship position supports the Tri Delta - St.Jude partnership, a system that has raised over $55 million since 1999. 

“I create fundraising event resources; conduct financial analysis; assist other youth program team members; organized and executed two collegiate leadership conferences with over 500 attendees; became a tour guide for the hospital; participate in patient activities; and compete in an intern innovation project where myself and a team of interns came up with a new fundraising campaign, with a peer to peer company, that would become the next St. Jude strategic partner, which we presented to the ALSAC Senior Leadership Team.” says Richardson. 

When asking Richardson how The Brand Girls influenced her internship success, she stated, “BG taught me how to highlight my skills and be confident in the workplace. One of the most important things I learned in our sessions was that networking is key. The CEO, Rachael always emphasized the importance of following up on meetings with people, always sending gratitude to those who have helped me along the way, and making opportunities for myself professionally by being proactive and reaching out to others for insight.”

 the one thing that all new or old industry professionals, college students, and goal-seekers have in common is… WE ARE PASSIONATE! Making your career into something that you love is essential to ruling you career and building an empire for ourselves. Richardson included, she mentions…

“I am thankful for BG, especially, for reminding me to always stay true to myself and the goals/ aspirations I have. Rachael helped me remember to follow my passion and not get caught up on what other people want me to do or what would make me the most money. Thanks to BG I stayed true to my goals and have had the pleasure of working with a fiercely passionate organization of people that are steadfast in one common mission, and that is raising the funds for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital so that no child has to die in the dawn of life.” 
 
It goes without question that Richardson is passionate about her career and the path she is dominating. When you love your job - there is truly nothing that can stop you!

Deirdre (Dee Dee) Hone - NYC’s Bureau of Capital Budget


Deirdre (Dee Dee) Hone, a 19-year-old sophomore at the Carroll School of Management - Boston College, is concentrating in finance management. 
​
Realizing her passion for finance, Hone dove into her first highly competitive internship working within NYC’s Bureau of Capital Budget. Hone served as the Project and Fixed Asset Management Intern, of which put her knowledge and skills quickly into action! 

“Performing tasks such as analyzing documents and data, submitting proposals, and collaborating with coworkers on projects has helped me gain professional experience and solidify my desire to pursue a career in finance.” Says Hone. 

We all know as students and graduates just how important internships can be in the development and resume process! Beginning early and taking a leap of action into the competitive go-getter internships is what diversifies us #GirlBosses from the rest of the pack. 

“The Brand Girls gave me the confidence to apply to competitive summer internship positions. As a rising sophomore, I have the opportunity to gain professional experience.” Hone mentioned. 

When asking Hone what her responsibilities entailed, she explained…

“This internship involves working with the Capital Budget Director to coordinate and facilitate funds for DSNY Capital Projects and Equipment, going along for site visits to current facilities and future projects, analyzing data and using the department’s Financial Management System to manage fixed assets and building + organizing the Alfresco computerized database that incorporates project approvals and metadata.” 

To all of our fellow finance majors, I think we can easily say that this is a powerful roll executing such knowledge and skill! 

Graduating in 2020, Hone has plenty of time to continue rocking powerful internships throughout her academic career - and we can’t wait to see what’s around the corner for next year! #YGG!

Gabrielle Blayden - Design Thinking 

Gabby Blayden, a 20-year-old design guru from Pittsburgh PA is studying Interior Design.

As someone who is passionate about the environment and sustainable practices, Gabby is driven by how the creative process of design can give people a platform to live in a way that closes the loop between them and the planet they live on.

Currently serving as a Design Thinking intern with Kalu Yala, Brayden is able to put all her power to use in the Panamanian Jungle!

“When searching for a summer internship, I wanted to find opportunities that supported my passions for sustainability and creating social good while incorporating my background in design. 

By going through the BG Workshop and multiple mock interviews with Rachael, I was confident in securing my internship with the Design Thinking Team at Kalu Yala. I now know that great opportunities come to those who are confident and authentically themselves. I will always have BG to thank for helping me find value in my work and in myself.” Says Blayden.

As an intern, Brayden is able to assist and implement new projects which will further help the town utilize the creative design process. 

“Some of my favorite projects include having designed a sustainable, non-electric laundry system and creating products for businesses and spaces within town.

I have learned that it is important to work with what you have - the river valley that Kalu Yala is located in is currently only accessible by three miles of dirt road. A huge focus of sustainability is to refuse procuring new materials, and rather to replenish materials that you already have to reduce carbon footprint. Most of the products I designed involved a lot of repurposing and digging around in the trash to make something beautiful out of what could be considered garbage. That just made the process all the more fun for me!”

Blayden is quickly changing the face of creative design in the industry - taking it to areas of the world we never imagined! Never underestimate the power or distance of a BG!

LINDSeY JONES
​CHANNEL 9 EYEWITNESS  CHARLOTTE 

Lindsey Jones, our soon-to-be birthday girl received her present early this year! 

Interning at Channel 9 Eyewitness News in Charlotte, NC - Jones is living the dream for any broadcast major. 

 Jones studies electronic media communications with a concentration in sports broadcasting. 

“Since I was a child I have always been running around with a video camera making music videos, short films, and random little videos for friends and family. Now I am taking that childhood passion and turning into a career by pursuing broadcasting” Says Jones. 
Jones spent her internship building the bases around tv production. Working in the news room, she was able to practice the ins and outs of the broadcast world. 
“I worked alongside directors, producers, and editors to create content for the shows and assist in the live broadcast. I spent most of my summer in the control room getting to know the different equipment and programs that are essential to the industry. I also got the chance to create content, such as VO's and teases, that was aired in multiple live shows as well as wrote web articles for their website and Facebook. I was so honored and thrilled to be taking on such a large broadcast market at only 19.” Jones said. 

When asked how The Brand Girls impacted this experience, Jones mentioned...

“Brand girls prepared me with the confidence to take on the professional world and make the most of every opportunity that presents itself. I also have a better understanding the importance of building relationships and creating networks with people within the industry. There is nothing I love more than the personal brand we worked to create for myself. I feel as if it really encapsulates what I am passionate about and how I am willing work to make that passion a career. Brand Girls is by far the best investment I have made for my future.”

I think it would be fair to say that we are among the next sports-news star!

Samantha Gajoch - a senior, Is getting her grad cap ready for a walk across the stage. Soon to be picking up her diploma in Exercise Science, Gajoch also has her minor in psychology and biochemistry. 
You might say all of this hard work has given her a love and appreciation for above average donuts and iced coffee. 

Gajoch exercises her passions through her internship as a certified nursing assistant. While she can not legally disclose where she works, she can’t help but mention all of the experiences she is learning from. 
“I rotated primarily between the ER and ICU units. The learning experience was honestly endless. I was exposed to numerous rare and common cases of illness and injury.

As a CNA I was mainly responsible for taking and recording patient vitals, administering specific medications, assisting the RN’s and NP’s with anything they may need, and scribing along side of physicians.

My most successful patient care stories revolve around fully embracing the practice of emphatic care, which is not always the easiest when your patient is suffering from a terminal illness.

As part of the nursing staff and care team, our emotions and attitudes play a large role in their recovery process. There is honestly no better feeling than having a patient tell you something as simple as your presence and smile brightened their day.”

When asked how The Brand Girls impacted this experience Gajoch noted, 
“Rachael helped me navigate my possible outlets and she challenged me to dive into connecting with anyone and everyone who would entertain me.

I was able to take leading professionals in the field of sports medicine to coffee this summer when I presented undergraduate research at the American College of Sports Medicine - and that really got the ball rolling for me.

I was able to gather a lot of genuine opinions from various points of view about the medical field as a whole and that really influenced and solidified my career choice.”

Gajoch is looking forward to returning to her CNA team this coming summer, in the hopes of gaining more hands on experiences. Her further aspirations are to become a nurse practitioner as a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists, and either work in an orthopedic surgery or at Children’s Hospital.

Catarina dimaggio 
Columbia university medical center 

Catarina DiMaggio is soon to take home a diploma in the Pre Med tract. 
​

Currently interning at Columbia University Medical Center in New York, DiMaggio spends her time in the Cardiothoracic Surgery Department. If you weren't impressed already, note that this will be her SECOND summer interning at this lab. 

“I work in cardiac operating rooms everyday collecting blood and tissue specimens to use for research, along with consenting patients one on one to participate in research studies. I also partake in databasing and my own literature review that is focused on a specific cardiac topic.” says DiMaggio.  

When asked where she found her inspiration, DiMaggio illustrated her childhood, 

“My earliest memories of my childhood include: “operating on my baby dolls”, and watching emergency medical shows. I can not remember at time in my life where I did not want to be some type of doctor.”

DiMaggio has articulated extensive knowledge within the field of cardiothoracic surgery and cardiology. She mentions just how impressionable this internship experience was, as she was able to gain hands-on experience to continuously confirm her drive and authentic passion behind this career. 

“Columbia has given me a first hand look into the life of, not only a surgeon but also a medical student. I am enthusiastic and can hardly wait for the day that I become a surgeon.” says DiMaggio.

Isabel Jennings - PPR Worldwide 

Isabel Jennings, a 20-year-old California girl takes on her career at Boston College. 

Jennings has crafted her education around international studies and German. We all know every girl has her hobbies - but Jennings takes interest in a multitude of avenues. 

Health, fitness, cooking, music, fashion, and international news & politics? Thats our girl. 


It was all Jennings diligence in education, including outside interests that accumulated into a powerful internship this summer! 


Just this year, Jennings interned at PPR Worldwide in NYC. This is the main PR firm for EMC Technologies. 


When asked what components from The Brand Girls shaped her confidence for this position, Jennings said 


“BG not only helped build my professional confidence, but supported me through the entire internship search and application process. There were many moments when I felt lost or discouraged, and my sessions with BG mentors motivated and guided me.”


One interesting experience that Jennings had was, 
“I was put on what I thought was just an informational call with PPR, and ended up being interviewed for the position. Instead of panicking and just stating my basic information, I was able to proudly pitch myself and my story in order to stand out as a confident and capable choice for an intern.”


Within this internship, Jennings was able to tighten her focus on the power of dressing for the role, send business emails, and communicate effectively with the higher ups.


“I get to work with media lists, contact reporters, edit pitches or coverage reports, and attend meetings. My days are full but I am excited by all the new opportunities! Also, working and living as a young professional in NYC can't be beat.” Says Jennings. 


While some of us may have been enjoying the beaches this summer, Jennings evoked power from her building overlooking Central Park and Trump Tower!

HANNAH BELLORADO - BOB'S FURNITURE 

Hannah Bellorado, a junior at George Washington University is powering through her education in marketing, while majoring in journalism and mass communication. 

Our girl Hannah had one thing in common with all of us at one point - and she’s not afraid to admit it. “Before joining the BG squad, I was really lost  on what I wanted to do.” 

“As I continued my sessions with Rachael and Adrianna, I was able to refine my personal brand. Ironically, through the process we also concluded branding and design was something I really should look into more. As BG helped me narrow down my options for this summer, I decided to choose a merchandising internship…” Says Bellorado. 

It was then that Bellorado accepted an internship with a rapidly growing furniture company, Bob’s!

​“So far, the experience has been amazing and I am learning SO much.”

Bellorado works alongside the furniture buyer of Bob’s. Incorporating her skills through purchase orders within meetings, Bellorado practices processing, sending and ordering fabric samples - as well as learning the market of the furniture industry. 

Bob’s is now expanding into California, and Bellorado has the opportunity to observe the expansion and how the buying process differentiates between each market type in each state.

Kara brown - girls life 

Kara Brown is twirling in ambition, as a rising junior at the University of Maryland. 

Currently pursuing a career in communications, Brown continues her education alongside a minor in professional writing! 

With both of these subjects in tow, Brown is eager to either attend law school focusing on fashion or power through graduate school for her masters in communication. 

As Brown is getting back in gear for the fall semester, she has a lot of achievements to look back on from this summer. 

While working as a brand stylist for J. Crew, Brown also excelled as a editorial intern for Girls Life Magazine - A publication that safe to say, brings back nostalgia for ALL of us! 

On the day-to-day basis, Brown’s responsibilities consist of pitching article ideas for all categories included on the GL website, taking a pitch and developing it into a well-written article with appropriate formatting and coding, and attending staff meetings + delivering feedback regarding the content that will be released in the next magazine issue.

“I’m still in awe at the fact that as a 19 year old, I can say I am a contributing editor to a published magazine!” Says Brown. 

When asked how she delivered such a powerful impact as a candidate for this internship position Brown said, 

“I would not have been able to successfully obtain this internship if it weren't for the help from the Brand Girls!  Not only did the program itself help me improve my self-confidence and esteem drastically, I have also been endlessly supported by Rachael Bozsik (CEO + Founder of The Brand Girls) and the rest of the brand girls throughout my journey.  Knowing that I always have someone to turn to when I need guidance or advice has been so reassuring! I cannot wait to see where else in my life the Brand Girls program will guide me.” 

The BG team knows that Kara will go far! You go girl - Cheers to this summer changing a Girls Life.

TORI BURNS 

Victoria Burns, an upcoming senior at High Point University takes on strategic communications while interning at an advertising agency only a few short miles from her school. 

Located in Winston Salem, Burn’s travels to MullenLowe where she works in the public relations department. 

While you may - or may not have heard of MullenLowe, im sure you have heard of Ulta, Hanes, JetBlue, or CSX? These are only a few go the big name clients that this challenger advertising company works with.  

“We create content and visual advertisements that make our audience feel and think differently. We are innovative and we are bold. We call ourself a different kind of beast in the Ad world.” Says Burn's.

Within this position she continues public outreach for the Hanes brands - this includes pitching to editors, launching campaigns, influencing media outreach and researching new market trends! 

“I have been working closely with the Hanes brands' L'eggs, Maidenform and Playtex Nursing Bras. I pitch editors who work at Glamour, Refinery29, Bustle, Teen Vogue, ELLE, Marie Claire, etc. I do a lot of research and media outreach to find media outlets and influencers who will work with our brand creating amazing content and visuals for campaigns launching in the Fall.” Burn's mentions.

Within the day-to-day hustle, Burn's lights up the meeting room during her group brainstorming sessions within the creative development process - not to mention her ability to influence clients!
