Cassandra Diaz - Madison Square Garden
Casandra Diaz, a 20-year-old succeeding junior attending High Point University just landed her internship at - you ready? Madison Square Garden!
Diaz sculpts her degree as a sport and events management major, including a sales minor.
Aside from her rockin opportunity this summer, she also interned with the Greensboro Swarm, an NBA G-League affiliate of the Charlotte Hornets just this spring of 2017.
Within the internship at MSG, Diaz powers through her role as an associate on the integrated media planning team.
Some of the roles associated with her internship derive from prospecting promotional partners based on brand goals and audience demographics, as well as conducting outreach to external partners to secure promotional and/or trade support.
Diaz also assists in the development and support of class integrated media plans across paid, earned, owned, and shared connection points for all MSG brands - including Radio City Christmas Spectacular and other holiday productions, Rockettes New York Spectacular, Bookings, New York Rangers, New York Knicks, New York Liberty, Westchester Knicks, and any other sports or entertainment marketing priority.
“At my internship, I have learned the most from other people through informal coffee meetings and MSG Office Hours. I remember that the Senior Vice President of the Knicks shared a piece of advice with all student associates "The off-court culture impacts the on-court culture." While this is a basketball reference, it also translates to any environment that requires collaboration with others.” Says Diaz.
When asked where she articulated some of her internship success she stated that “BG helped me learn how to confidently articulate my experiences and skills during the application and interview process”
- Something empirical when standing out among a competitive crowd.
This just goes to show that variety can give you power.
It is safe to say that one of Diaz’s strengths is her ability to cultivate a rhythm form her experiences and use them in her present prospects.
